Coaching Staff

A Burnaby, BC native, Troy Mick was a dynamic offensive defenseman drafted 130th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988. A WHL standout with Portland and Regina, he tallied 466 points in 267 WHL games and set league records for goals, assists, and points by a defenseman. After a pro career in the ECHL and IHL, he moved into coaching and management — GM/Head Coach of the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers, WHL head-coaching stints with Tri-City and Kamloops, and President, GM, and part-owner of the BCHL’s Salmon Arm Silverbacks — before taking the helm as President of the Phoenix Inferno.

An Edmonton, AB native and 1999 Stanley Cup champion, Rich Matvichuk was a shutdown defenseman taken 8th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in 1991. He played 796 NHL games over 14 seasons, mostly with the Dallas Stars — where he won the Cup in 1999 — plus the New Jersey Devils. A WHL Top Defenseman with the Saskatoon Blades, he later built a strong coaching career, including head-coaching roles with the ECHL’s Missouri Mavericks and the WHL’s Prince George Cougars, before joining the Phoenix Inferno as GM and Co-Head Coach.

A Lake Stevens, WA native, Tynan Peacock is a hard-nosed, competitive defenseman whose playing career spanned junior hockey across the NA3HL, USPHL, BCHL, VIJHL, and KIJHL. Drafted into the NA3HL in 2019, he posted his best offensive numbers with the VIJHL’s Campbell River Storm, where he served as an alternate captain. He began his coaching career as an assistant with Campbell River before moving into development coaching with the Wenatchee Wild 16U AAA Prep program, and now brings his defensive expertise and youthful energy to the Phoenix Inferno bench as Assistant Coach.
