PHOENIX, ARIZONA – August 26, 2026 — The Phoenix Inferno are proud to announce Joseph Rossi as the team’s Athletic Trainer for the inaugural 2026–27 season.
Rossi brings an exceptional combination of advanced medical training, emergency response experience, military leadership, and technical rescue expertise to the Phoenix Inferno organization.
A Nationally Registered Paramedic, Rossi has extensive experience providing medical care in demanding, high-pressure environments. His professional background includes serving as a firefighter with the City of Scottsdale, where he was involved in rescue operations and medical instruction, as well as working as a Rescue Specialist with Vigilant in Scottsdale. In that role, Rossi has been responsible for patient care, transportation and transfer of care, while also serving as a backseat firefighter involved in fire extinguishment, vehicle extrication and technical rescue.
Rossi also brings an impressive military medical background. He has served with United States Air Force Pararescue since 2015 and currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant. His experience includes providing medical coverage for Green Beret teams, recovery operations, rescue leadership, coordinating air operations and maintaining 24/7 rescue readiness.
His certifications and specialized training include Nationally Registered Paramedic, Technical Rope Rescue Specialist, Combat Medic training through Wake Forest, Military Freefall, Open/Closed Circuit Diver, Dive Supervisor and Avalanche Level 1 training, among other advanced qualifications.

Player safety is one of our top priorities, and having someone with Joe’s background on our bench gives our players, coaches and families tremendous confidence.”
Rossi is excited to begin the season with the Inferno and become part of the organization’s inaugural campaign.

As Athletic Trainer, Rossi will work closely with the Phoenix Inferno coaching staff and players to support player safety, injury response, emergency medical care and overall health throughout the season.
